Going to the Hartford Area Career and Technology Center (HACTC) has been a life changing experience for me. I never liked school. I always woke up in the morning not wanting to go. Since I’ve been at the HACTC, that all has changed. I now wake up motivated and excited for what the day will bring. I never thought that I would ever consider furthering my education after graduating, but the HACTC has shown me many avenues to do so. HACTC being here through my journey has made me more responsible and engaged in my education. The HACTC has shown me something that I love to do and it doesn’t even feel like work.

Everyone you meet is special in their own way, starting with Mr. Heavisides greeting you every morning as you walk in, to the ladies in the office who can brighten up anyone’s day!  There isn’t one thing that I don’t like about the HACTC. I love how involved the whole school is in the community, like doing yearly food and clothing drives for The Haven. Helping others in the community has always been a big part of my life and the HACTC has shown me many more ways to give back.

I would recommend the HACTC to anyone and everyone because even if you’re not sure if this is the place for you, everything will change as soon as you walk in. Because of the HACTC, my future is finally clear. I’ve been accepted into college, found something that I love to do, and met so many amazing people along the way. I’m sad that this is my last year here but I know that it’s not the end, they’ve shown me that it is just the beginning.
