Hartford Area Career & Technology Center
It was the first day of Business Administration class at the HACTC. Kody Wessel, Jake Fortier, and Tate Hurd arrived to class only to discover that the three of them - Juniors at Hartford High School, Thetford Academy, and Windsor High School, respectively - were in the same program. As they spent more time in class together they learned they had a lot in common. They all enjoy playing sports, hanging out, and watching each other strive. Rebuilding their relationship in the classroom not only improved their incentive to work and collaborate, but it made them even better friends than they were before.
Eleven years ago at The Hartland Cooperative Nursery School, they used to hang out every day in class, at lunch, and on the playground as well. Being so little they didn’t have any real means of communication to stay in touch after preschool, and they lost contact with each other. After not being together for 11 years, they didn’t really make the connection at first that they had previously known each other. It wasn’t until they began playing “get to know you” games that they found out that they all went to preschool together. Remembering the fun times they had has been great. It has not only made them nostalgic, but it makes them want to resume the times they had. HACTC has not only given them the opportunity to learn more about a field they are interested in, but it has brought the three of them back together. In the near future they intend to join the Future Business Leaders of America program together. They plan to continue their growth and knowledge in the business center. They all know that they will apply almost everything that they take from this class in real life so they are just eager to learn.
