Figuring out the Future

Figuring out the Future

Ever since middle school I can remember people telling me that I have to start figuring out what I want to do after high school. I remember having absolutely no clue what I wanted to do. Thanks to my Career and Technology Exploration (CTE) class at the Hartford Area Career and Technology Center (HACTC), I am starting to figure it out.

I am Franklyn Conrad, and I am a Sophomore at Mascoma Valley Regional High School. CTE has been a fantastic experience for me and countless other students. The whole CTE program has awarded me so many possibilities and opportunities. I am gaining knowledge that would never be available to me at my sending school. I personally learn better in a hands-on environment. I am getting a taste of all the different programs when we rotate through the HACTC as part of CTE, and I am able to pick up small bits of information along the way.

The knowledge I am obtaining in CTE is incredible, and I will probably use it for the rest of my life. Having such opportunities also has improved my sending school grades. Last year I almost had to repeat my freshman year, and this year I am on honor roll. The staff here is honestly all about helping the students and making sure they will succeed in the future. I feel like this was a great opportunity, and I am very fortunate to have been given this chance.

Going to the HACTC is making school fun and interesting again. I am engaging so much more now than I have in a while. I have found so many new friends and interests. I never thought I would enjoy some of the classes here until I got the opportunity to try them out. I am excited for my future in whatever program I choose because I know I will obtain extremely useful information no matter the program.
