National Technical Honor Society - By Melanie Taylor

National Technical Honor Society - By Melanie Taylor

NTHS is a student-run organization that is nationally designed to recognize technical educational students who meet published academic and attendance requirements.  NTHS is for students who have excelled in their programs, have excellent attendance and receive good grades in their home school classes. These students are students who show great potential for their future.
From the classroom to our homes, we love and respect the Hartford Area Career and Technology Center community. Unity is key and our members are leaders and take charge when they are needed. Being a member of NTHS has opened my eyes to the bigger picture which is that my choices and actions affect this community that I love and respect.
In NTHS, we do a number of activities that are as unique and wonderful as my fellow members. Here at the Hartford Area Career and Technology Center, we come together as a big family to support the surrounding town because they help support all of the students at HACTC. In NTHS, we complete a lot of community service work for the community at large.  NTHS runs a food drive for the Haven, which personally I have relied on for food and shelter. I know just how crucial the food that is donated can be for a family, which is why I took great pride and joy in giving back to the Haven. NTHS also participates in the Polar Express which is a winter event where young children come ride the White River Junction train exploring the story of the Polar Express.
The qualities in our members insures that we give back to our community. There is nothing quite like the feeling of giving back to a community that cares for you. The HACTC community has done so much and continues to give us the resources we need to continue our work.
